Food Closet
On the third Saturday each month the deacons distribute food from our food closet to those in need. On the same day a mobile medical unit also sets up on our campus to provide free health screenings. For more information on the mobile medical unit, please see the website of the Water of Life Community Church by clicking here.
In addition to our monthly distributions, we also distribute bags of food to people who come by the church office during the week.
Habitat for Humanity
Many members of our church family support this organization with money and their labor. Our crew works once a month to build homes for low-income families in the local area. To find out more about the work of Habitat for Humanity in San Bernardino, click here.
Mission Trips
Most recently, since the summer of 2006, our church has been sending groups annually to help give relief to people in the Gulf Coast impacted by Hurricane Katrina. See photos below.
Members of our church also make regular visits to Filadelfia Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico to deliver medical supplies and other items that our church has collected.
First Presbyterian Child Care Center
Our Child Care Center has served families of varying economic backgrounds for over 16 years. Over 1200 children have enjoyed and benefited from the center which provides infant care, preschool, a meal program, and childcare to the community and neighborhood.
2006 Trip to New Orleans, Louisiana Two couples from our church helped our congregation discern a call to work in the Gulf Coast region when they took supplies from our child care center to the child care center of Lakeview Presbyterian Church in New Orleans which had been devastated by Hurricane Katrina. |
2007 Trip to New Orleans, Louisiana Nine members of the youth group, six advisors, and a family from our congregation stayed in Jefferson Parish and worked at Jefferson Presbyterian Church and at repairing a home in the East New Orleans area. One member, a dentist, worked at a free dental clinic for the week. |
